In English European Literature class there are two big grading components remaining. One is the essay on Hamlet for the last marking period. The essay was assigned March 17th and due April 24th. Although it is now late, it should still be turned in.
The other big grading component is the final exam. The question types will be posted on school loop a week before the exam. The exam is mostly on Hamlet and on a novel titled A Passage to India which we are studying now. The packet of activities for the novel is posted on school loop.
It is very important that students concentrate, focus and be in class for the remaining weeks. If they need help I am available; they just need to ask for a time to meet.
School loop shows a "semester grade book" with the first two marking periods averaged. There are the last marking period and the final still to be entered. All four will be averaged to get the semester grade.
Attached, for your convenience, are two syllabi, one for 10th grade English and one for 12th grade English.
***NOTE: Until the end of the marking period, School Loop will only show the classwork/homework grade, which is only 30% of the grade. A student could show an A or B in class work, which is great, but if they fail the exam or essay their marking period grade would be ‘D’ since essays or exams are 70% of the grade. As you can see it is important to do well on the skill evaluation of essays/exams. Students are invited to seek help at lunch or after school as needed, especially for essays or exams.
